EXTRACTION PROCESS WITH RENEWABLE SOLVENT
Rio Pardo Proteína Vegetal has developed a breakthrough industrial production technology for the extraction of vegetable oil and SPC production using only renewable solvents (not derived from petroleum).
Conventional processes use hexanes solvents, which comes from fossil oil, aren’t renewable, and can lead to undesirable effects to human and animal health. Rio Pardo uses only ethanol as a solvent, which is an organic renewable substance with low toxicity, ensuring clean and environmentally friendly products.
ALTERNATIVE RAW MATERIALS
Ongoing research efforts in alternative inputs for the production of vegetable oils (mainly for biofuels) have demanded substantial resources.
Following this trend, Rio Pardo Proteína Vegetal is investing in both R&D and field development of the Jatropha Curcas oilseed.
Jatropha is a perennial crop that enables high-grade extraction of vegetable oils for biofuels production (mainly biodiesel), as well as a high biomass volume for energy generation from the fruit’s skin, with significant cost advantages and no competition with human nutrition.
Rio Pardo Proteína Vegetal has accomplished substantial success in the field, including a partnership with the North-American company SG Biofuels
( www.sgbiofuels.com ) for the genetic development and adaptation of this crop to Mato Grosso do Sul.
